Slovakian company U.S. Steel Košice has placed a major order for the supply of an annealing and coating line (ACL) for dynamo steel strips at Tenova.
One of the largest integrated steel producers in Central Europe, U.S. Steel Košice, says it has placed a huge order for the supply of ACL for dynamo steel strips with Tenova LOI Thermprocess, a global company in heat treatment lines and furnaces located in Essen, Germany. The plant will be addressed as Dynamo-Line no. 4 internally and will meet the highest requirements for the production of non-grain oriented electrical steel.
Why Tenova?
The scope of the contract covers engineering and, to a large extent, turnkey delivery of all equipment as well as the supervision of the assembly and commissioning including training.
U.S. Steel Košice is said to have chosen Tenova LOI Thermprocess and the advanced Tenova technology as its partner for several reasons.
Among them are the diverse references for comparable facilities, short realisation time and the mathematical model, which were of crucial importance to U.S. Steel Košice, a wholly owned subsidiary of U. S. Steel Group headquartered in the United States. The Slovakian company is a fully integrated metallurgical plant and one of the largest industrial companies in the Slovakian Republic that produces thin sheet, ultra-fine sheet, galvanized strip and non-grain-oriented electrical steel sheets for over 30 years now.
The company is experiencing extensive modernisation measures to improve product quality. One of them is the dismantling of two outdated annealing and coating lines and the simultaneous construction of the new modern annealing and coating plant.
Tenova, belonging to the Techint Group that is a leading provider of innovative solutions for the metals and mining industries, says it will design and deliver the entire line together with Tenova LOI Thermprocess and Tenova Italimpianti – engineering company located in Italy. They will supply the complete ACL including the heat treatment section (furnace) of the plant, the entire strip handling and chemical processing with a drying oven following the coil coating, the associated electrical, instrumentation and control technology (incl. automation).
From 2000-2019, Tenova received 60 orders for heat treatment systems for electrical steel, 34 plants of which were completely new installations.
