Waldrich Cobrug announced a new model in the Taurus range to be released in 2020. The focus of the new machine is die and mould production.
Since German machine tool manufacturer Waldrich Coburg introduced its first series-produced (as opposed to bespoke manufactured) machining centre in two sizes nearly four years ago, 30 of the Taurus machines have been sold internationally.
They were described as small, portal-type machining centres, but with axis travels of 5,000 x 3,500 x 1,500 mm and 6,000 x 4,000 x 1,500 mm plus a 2,000 mm W-axis, they are large by most standards. Now the manufacturer, which is represented in the UK, Ireland and Middle East by Kingsbury, has announced that it will add new a model to the range in 2020.
The Taurus 30 Gemini, an alternative version of the larger of the two existing machines, will combine the superior structural stability for which Waldrich Coburg is renowned with higher speed machining to satisfy users looking for elevated levels of productivity as well as good surface finish and high accuracy. The machine is well suited to die and mould production and is capable of both roughing at up to 63 kW / 1,500 Nm and dynamic high-speed finishing at up to 20,000 rpm. A notable feature of the design is vibration-damping, wear-free, hydrostatic guideways in all axes.
