At the EMO 2019 exhibition Marposs presented its Total Thermal Vision (TTV) for die casting production control and process digitalization in the foundry.
The temperature distribution on the surface of the mold is the key issue for maintaining an efficient process with high quality levels. Shrinkage during hardening, porosity and cracks are defects caused by out-of-range temperatures or non-optimized temperature distribution.
The average die casting cycle time is usually between 20 and 90 seconds. In such a short time temperature distribution is fundamental to ensure a correct material solidification with no defects.
The Marposs Total Thermal Vision is specifically designed to provide an effective solution for the distribution of the temperature on the mold surface. This new technology also allows real-time storage of thermographic images and related temperature data which optimizes both the die casting process and its quality control.
Without affecting the cycle time, Total Thermal Vision monitors the die temperature distribution for every shot: in cases where it is not correct it provides early alarms to avoid the create of defective die castings. TTV system can be integrated into the plant management process control systems; the key to accessing Industry 4.0 in the foundry.
