Due to the Coronavirus, the decision was made to postpone Metav. A replacement date has not yet been announced.
Metav 2020 – International Trade Fair for Metalworking Technologies, which was to be held in Düsseldorf from 10 to 13 March, has been postponed. “We did not make the decision easy, but the Coronavirus or Covid-19 has spread extremely dynamically in recent days. With the high number of infected people in Italy and the spread in North Rhine-Westphalia right on Metav’s doorstep, the uncertainty among our exhibitors has increased considerably,” says Dr. Wilfried Schäfer, Managing Director of the Metav organiser VDW (Verein Deutscher Werkzeugmaschinenfabriken).
After Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn also spoke of the beginning of an epidemic in Germany and travellers from crisis regions are now being checked on entry, several major exhibitors have cancelled their Metav participation. “Since further developments are not foreseeable, we have decided at short notice to postpone Metav. In consultation with our partner, Messe Düsseldorf, we will announce the new date as soon as possible, so that exhibitors and visitors can plan ahead with certainty as soon as possible,” says Schäfer.
