EMO Milano 2021 will take place Oct. 4-9, with a particular emphasis on machine tools, automation, IoT systems and advanced digital production technologies.
EMO Milano 2021, organized by UCIMU-Sistemi Per Produrre — the Italian machine tool, robotics and automation systems manufacturers’ association — and Cecimo — the European association of machine tool industries — will take place at fieramilano Rho Oct. 4-9.
This international conference will spotlight metal-forming and metal-cutting machine tools, enabling technologies, robots and automation, solutions for interconnected and digital factories, production systems and additive manufacturing. The organizers are particularly excited about how IoT technologies will link major user sectors like machine tools, automotive, aeronautics, aerospace, railway, metallurgy and materials.
EMO Milano’s organizers are confident in the exhibition’s ability to attract qualified visitors, with statistics from prior conferences showing 81% of total visitors were decision makers. They also note that international demand for machine tools is expected to grow by 18.4% worldwide in 2021 and continue growing in 2022 and 2023.
Within Italy itself, experts expect a 38.2% growth in 2021, and the Italian government has introduced fiscal incentives like a 50% tax credit for Italian companies investing in new machine tools, robots, automation systems, Industry 4.0 and digital technologies in 2021 and 2022.
The event will include several targeted initiatives, like EMO Digital for demonstrating the potential of digital manufacturing technologies, an area dedicated to start-ups, and a speaker program focusing on thematic and cultural topics within manufacturing.
While the organizers hope the world health situation will return to normal within the next few months, they have also developed thorough safety protocols. UCIMU-Sistemi Per Produrre has already tested these protocols at BI-MU, an exhibition in October 2020, and says it occurred in safety and without any particular problems. Nevertheless, the organizers altered the cancellation policy for EMO Milano 2021, allowing exhibitors to cancel their participation as late as March 31, 2021 while only losing their security deposit.
