As a company focused on innovation and technological excellence, the Technology Laboratory (Tech Lab) of the Rijeka Development Agency Porin develops solutions for clients from various industries.

Our focus is on providing assistance and support to entrepreneurs, iprimarily by enabling access to innovative infrastructure (3D scanners, equipment for additive manufacturing using metals (DMLS technology), polymers, and sand).

During 2024, the Tech Lab of the Rijeka Development Agency Porin stepped beyond the standard framework of communication with industrial and technological partners and initiated several projects with partners outside our existing ecosystem.

Through successful collaborations with renowned local, regional, and national events, young researchers and innovators, the academic sector, and the local community, the Tech Lab of the Rijeka Development Agency Porin has successfully found new clients, partners, and collaborators.

Additionally, the potential to expand the narrative about additive technologies beyond existing boundaries has been strengthened, enabling organizations to discover the possibilities and applicability of these technologies. Throughout this process, the creativity and proactivity of the engineers at the Tech Lab of the Rijeka Development Agency Porin proved to be crucial.

Design and Production of Awards for Successful Regional Events

Rijeka Tattoo Expo

Rijeka Tattoo Expo is an international event dedicated to tattoo art, which in November 2024 brought together 120 tattoo artists from across Europe and several thousand visitors.

This three-day festival offers a rich program that includes competitions, exhibitions, creative workshops, as well as music and dance performances. During the event, visitors could enjoy the spectacle of live tattooing, attend inspiring lectures and interactive workshops, and explore the latest trends in the world of tattoos.

The Expo also serves as an important hub for connecting artists and exchanging experiences among tattoo enthusiasts.

The Tech Lab of the Rijeka Development Agency participated in designing and producing 40 awards for the competition winners, utilizing 3D printing technology. These awards were recognized as innovative and unique.

Expo GameRI

The first Rijeka video game fair, Expo GameRI, transformed Rijeka’s Exportdrvo venue into a massive gaming center in April 2024. Visitors had the opportunity to try out new games and gadgets, attend talks and lectures on the gaming and tech industry, and participate in competitions, tournaments, workshops, and dance performances

Collaboration with the Academic Sector

Congress: 3D printing in medicine and engineering

In June 2024, the Rijeka Development Agency Porin, in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Rijeka, organized a successful one-day congress titled ‘3D Printing in Medicine and Engineering.’

The goal of the congress was to discuss the application of additive technologies, with a special focus on innovations in the dental industry. The congress served as a platform for networking and collaboration between academia and industry, highlighting the importance of 3D technologies in the development of the medical and engineering sectors.

Digital Innovation Hub

As part of the cross-border project Digital Innovation Hub (DIH) InnovaMare, funded by the Interreg Italy – Croatia 2021–2027 program, the services of the Torpedo Production Park were used to develop prototypes and mold components made from carbon fiber.

One of the key outcomes of the project is the autonomous vessel Faust V, inspired by the work of Croatian inventor Faust Vrančić. Faust V represents the fifth generation of technology, combining artificial intelligence, digitalization, and environmental sustainability, setting new standards in maritime operations and environmental monitoring.

Additionally, in 2024, the Rijeka Development Agency Porin became an official expert base for the University of Rijeka, enabling stronger collaboration with the academic sector in terms of knowledge and technology transfer, as well as the exchange of experiences.

Innovations for Innovators

Innovative technology and a passion for developing high-tech solutions are often key factors for success in sports and industry. Through collaboration with ambitious teams such as the Adria Hydrofoil Team and the Riteh Racing Team, the Technology Laboratory of the Torpedo Production Park demonstrates how the application of modern technologies, such as 3D printing and reverse engineering, can provide a competitive edge on an international level. These teams represent the best examples of synergy between passion, engineering expertise, and technological innovation.

The Adria Hydrofoil Team is one of the leading teams in the Croatian hydrofoiling sports scene, specializing in the development of hydrofoil vessels that enable flying above water. The team brings together passionate athletes and engineers who combine top-tier skills from sailing, surfing, and engineering to achieve maximum performance. In 2024, the Adria Hydrofoil Team secured second place in the overall standings of the Energy Class and third place in the qualifications and speed tests at the prestigious Monaco Energy Boat Challenge.

The Riteh Racing Team consists of students from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Rijeka, who turn their theoretical knowledge into practice by designing, manufacturing, and testing racing cars. Established in late 2007, the team participates in the prestigious international Formula Student competitions, where they showcase creativity, technical skills, and teamwork.

The Technology Laboratory of the Torpedo Production Park supported them by 3D printing molds for the front carbon fiber spoiler.
Through partnerships with teams like the Adria Hydrofoil Team and the Riteh Racing Team, the Technology Laboratory continues to contribute to the development of new technologies and the creation of successful innovation stories.
